In an interview with the Financial Times, US President Donald Trump said he approved the EU’s reaction to the UK’s decision to leave the union. He said that the EU leadership had done a “better job” to “hold together” the EU member states. According to the resident of the White House, now the EU is dominated by “the spirit of holding together” and he expects the negotiations on Britain’s exit from the EU (Brexit) to be completed successfully for all parties. It should be recalled that before the inauguration, Trump made statements to the contrary. For example, in an interview with Bild and The Times, he called Brexit a “wonderful thing” and supposed that other EU countries would follow the British example. The British government gave a formal notice of withdrawal from the EU on March 29. The same day, Trump’s spokesman Sean Spicer said the White House wanted “the UK to remain a strong leader in Europe, and Europe to remain a leader in the world.”
