There is a snowstorm again in Lviv, but despite the bad weather, the city is actively preparing for the Easter holiday season. Easter Egg Festival started in Lviv on April 6. The festival will last for a month. This is the third such festival, but this year its program has expanded and will offer residents of Lviv and tourists various artistic and interactive performances. “One of the events of the festival is Easter Egg hunt. It will be organized for the first time in Lviv. The idea of the hunt is to find all the Easter eggs (there will be 50 pysankas hidden all over the city) with the help of a map and then send a text message with the appropriate code, printed on the egg to number 212. Local mass media, including FM Halychyna radio will cover the event. The radio audience will find out first about the found pysankas and will even get hints on the location of the others. The ‘hunter’ that would find the most pysankas will receive the main prize of the festival – golden pysanka.”
Andrii Sydor, organizer of the Third Easter Egg Festival in Lviv, told The Day that within the framework of the festival an Easter Fair and art workshop will open at Rynok Square. Visitors of the festival will get a chance to learn how to make and paint pysankas. “We also plan a big Easter concert, performances of Christian bands, screenings of films on Easter. There will also be a competition for the most delicious Easter cake, exhibition of half-meter pysankas in the Gallery of Pysanka, a variety of water attractions for the wet Monday, and, of course, decorating the city with unique Easter egg trees that will create a unique atmosphere of Easter and spring.”
During the final part of Easter Egg Festival a unique Gallery of Pysankas will be opened on Rynok Square.
Without any doubt, Lviv residents and tourists will be pleased with a sight of a four-meter wonder Easter egg, 50 half-meter and some meter pysankas, installed in the downtown Lviv – on Rynok Square.
