Cherkasy local center “Khreshchatyk-City” opened “Ego” International Festival of Contemporary Art. It gathered over 50 participants from all over Ukraine and also Russia, France, Armenia, Paraguay, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Argentina.

Ashot Kazaryan, French, is the Festival’s organizer. It was him who found the artists in different countries, communicated with them for a long time, arranged their participation in the fest and finally brought their artworks to Cherkasy. According to him, the festival united different artists. Indeed, you can see not only the paintings but also installations and sculptures. And all the works are done in various styles using diverse techniques. It is obvious that the artists demonstrate not only their “ego” (the name of the festival reminds us about that) but “alter ego” as well (another ego, another nature), wherewith they try to influence the visitors.

The youngest participant is seven years old. Andrii Fedorenko has attended the Danylo Narbut Children Art School for three years already. His works are bright, frank and positive. Maksym Zalizniak’s Oak differs from the rest of his works. “I went to Kholodny Yar and I painted the oak later. I did it in dark colors, as if it was night. Although I went there during day time, I imagined how it would look at night,” Andrii explained.

The Festival will take place until August, 25. The locals and the visitors will be able to see not only the artworks but a fire show too, enjoy the concerts of instrumental ensemble of the children’s music school and see “Nepravylny Teatr” [Irregular Theater. – Ed.] performances and plays.
