On March 25 and April 1 and 8, 2010, Oleh Skrypka, the frontman of the Vopli Vidopliasova band, will present his new solo project in the cabaret jazz style in Sullivan Room in Kyiv, reports Skrypka’s press service. The music program includes songs performed by Bohdan Vesolovsky, a leading Ukrainian pop singer in the 1930s and the 1940s.

Jazz band musicians and Skrypka conducted extensive research to revive and restore the Ukrainian jazz of the early 20th century. The fruit of these prolonged efforts is the forthcoming solo album whose forerunner was the single “I’ve got a vulnerable heart” presented at the Noble Vechornytsi party and in an Odesa jazz club last year. The program of the second part includes worldwide and Ukrainian hits (“Fever,” “Tombe La Neige,” “Rien de Rien,” “Cheremshyna,” and so on) and the most popular VV hits (“Spring,” “Dances,” “Birthday,” etc.) in their jazz versions.

“Such soirees in Ukraine start a good old world tradition of cabaret jazz, where open, elegant and chic atmosphere dominates. This cultural oasis will be able to satisfy those who have a thirst for soul-touching songs and everybody who has perfect taste and sense of style,” says Skrypka.
