Russian opposition demands Putin’s regime to be dismantled
No essential reforms are possible in Russia until Vladimir Putin has real power in the country. “The dismantling of Putin’s regime and turning the country in the direction of democratic development can only start when Putin is deprived of all leverage to rule the country and society,” reads the address signed by the representatives of the liberal, left-wing, and nationalistic opposition. Among those who signed the document are human rights activists Vladimir Bukovsky, Alena Bonner, and Lev Ponomarev; politicians Garry Kasparov and Boris Nemtsov; writers Zakhar Prilepin and Viktor Shenderovich; musician Mikhail Borzykin, and others.
People can sign the address on the website putinavotstavku.ru. The authors of the address are convinced that “Putin’s group is its ground and can switch from individual to mass repressions.” “Today the national demand in meetings from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad should be the appeal ‘Putin leave!’ Getting rid of Putin is the first but an obligatory step towards new free Russia,” conclude the authors of the appeal.
Park for weddings to be created in Kyiv
Kyivzelenbud, a Kyiv-based organization, intends to lay out a Wedding Ceremonies Park, where it would be possible to hold outdoor wedding ceremonies and wedding photo shoots, reports the newspaper Khreshchatyk.
Oleksandr Kozlovsky, director general of the municipal association, said: “A park for wedding ceremonies is scheduled to be built in Kyiv. Twenty percent of couples that get married would prefer an outdoor ceremony. Practically all newlyweds after the ceremonies go to nice parks, historical places, and spots that offer panoramic views on the city to take pictures.” He added that the favorite places of newly married couples are the monument to the Kyiv founders in Navodnytsky Park, Park Slavy, the beautiful places in Mariinsky Park, and the Love Bridge in the Kyiv City Park.
“This project is about creating a park — a new location for conducting outdoor ceremonies, church marriage services, and wedding photo shoots. We plan to put there alcoves, a bridge over a lake, a decorative waterfall, fountains, pretty lawns for picnics, bird gardens with decorative birds, a chapel for marriage services, and many other objects,” said the director of Kyivzelenbud. He also encouraged Kyivites to join the process of choosing the place for the park.
