Fencer Yana Shemiakina wins silver at World Cup

The Women’s Epee World Cup has come to an end in Barcelona (Spain). Ukrainian Yana She­mia­­kina won the silver in the indivi­dual competition. She won five fights but lost to Romania’s Ana Branza in the final (13:15). Simona Alexandru from Romania and Yujie Sun from China shared the third place, the Na­­tional Olympic Committee of Ukrai­ne’s press service reports. The Estonians won the team competition by defeating the Germans (45:42). Ukraine placed third, defeating Romania (39:36). Serhii Bubka, the pre­sident of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, greeted the ladies with the World Cup awards.
