According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, this year’s Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko Charity Festival “She.fest” will be held for the second time in the native village of the poet – Moryntsi, Cherkasy region. The forum will last two days (August 22 and 23), and its main events will take place in the village center.

As the organizers told The Day, the slogan for the “She.fest-2015” will be “evolution of your spirit.” The event shall demonstrate that not only our country has evolved for the past year, but every Ukrainian has changed too (in developing more understanding and appreciation of their life, family, and homeland).

The main purpose of the festival is to dismantle all stereotypes and discover new Shevchenko – young, attractive, and modern; the visitors shall understand Taras as the poet, the artist, and the fighter – they will themselves go through the story of The Kobzar’s life.

There will be an intense program on the “She.fest”: the visitors will gather for discussions and readings of Shevchenko’s works, as well as of their own; the musical scene will offer the opportunity to hear the legacy of the poet being sang in rap and rock styles; workshops will be open; the night screenings will show only Ukrainian cinema; and also there will be some theatrical performances. Additionally, there will be interesting tours on Moryntsi; children will enjoy a special children’s space; traditional Ukrainian martial arts will be demonstrated to anyone interested; and meetings with the modern heroes of ATO will be held.

The festival will also open medical and military spaces for the first time. Like in the past year, “She.fest-2015” will be a charity event. All raised funds will be transferred to support Ukrainian military. The first national festival of Taras Shevchenko had been held on August 15-16, 2014 in the village of Moryntsi, Zvenyhorod raion of Cherkasy oblast and had gathered up to five thousand visitors. The joint efforts managed to raise about 19,000 hryvnias in charity and partly cover the cost of a thermal imager for the “Orshanets” frontier post (Sverdlovsk raion, Luhansk oblast).
