Oct. 27 saw the opening of the international exhibition “Kyiv DigiPhoto Show 2005: Digital Photo and Video Equipment and Media Technologies” at the Kyiv Expo Plaza center. The show presents state-of-the-art commercial and semi-professional photo and video devices, digital equipment and photo printing materials with such world-famous trademarks as Canon, Epson, Kodak, Panasonic, Nikon, etc. By tradition, the Kyiv DigiPhoto Show exhibits works of professional and amateur photographers: photo galleries from the dFOTO magazine and the Foto.ua portal, “Life and Photo-2005” from the Kyiv branch of the National League of Ukrainian Photo Artists, and “China: Harmony and Space,” a solo exhibit of the photo artist Oleksandr Lepetun.

The Kyiv branch of the National League of Ukrainian Photo Artists also organized, as part of Kyiv DigiPhoto Show, a contest for the best photo (the jury included Den/The Day’s photo correspondent Borys Korpusenko — Ed.) in the nominations “Best Digital Photo,” “Debut,” “Genre Photography,” “Macro-photography,” “Portrait,” and “Landscape.” To stress its complete impartiality, the jury has not yet disclosed the names of the winners. Yet the league promises to confer diplomas on the latter and invite them to join the organization. The exhibition also features conferences for designers and architects, seminars on various trends in the technological development of photo equipment and digital devises, as well as master classes in spot reporting, sport photography, video film titling, etc., conducted by experts of the Kyiv branch of the National League of Ukrainian Photo Artists.
