This week the Editors hosted Oleksandr Hlyvynsky, press secretary of the national soccer team, and presented him with copies of the Ukraine Incognita book series, as promised earlier.

Editor-in-chief Larysa Ivshyna stressed in her opening address that the national team players are perhaps the only ones to have gifted Ukraine with this passing year’s inspiration: “We saw new horizons, even if for three days. I am convinced that sports, soccer in particular, can convey meaningful messages and images. This is a psychological model that can give this country very much indeed. We finally saw a national team whose members could sing the national anthem. Not surprisingly, this new quality was reflected in their performance in the field.”
