The Judo Men’s World Cup has just come to an end in Warsaw; it was yet another qualifier for the London Olympics of 2012. In the over 100 kg class, the competition was won by the Ukrainian judoka Stanislav Bondarenko, reports Ukrinform, citing the European Judo Union. The athlete from Zaporizhia defeated Frenchman Adrien Pin in the decisive fight for the gold medal.
Bondarenko secured five victories on the Warsaw mats in total. During the qualifications, he defeated American Daniel McCormick, then left no chances for Belarusian Aliaksandr Vahaviak, and came out victorious from the fight with Frenchman Pierre Robin. France won the team classification (three gold medals, one silver, and two bronze), while the Ukrainian team took fourth place. Overall, judokas from 48 nations competed in Warsaw.
