Leonid Bakka, the photography editor of Den/ The Day since 1997, passed away at the age of 63. Leonid Bakka was not only a renowned master of photography, a delicate mentor, an excellent organizer (in particular, he organized Den/The Day’s annual international photo competition), but also a wise, kind and enthusiastic person. His friends and colleagues always felt his reliable encouragement and support, in both their personal and professional lives.
Leonid Bakka was born in 1948 in Kyiv. He worked at the Kyiv plant KINAP, in the newspapers Vseukrainski vidomosti and Fakty i komentari, and since 1997 — at Den/The Day.
Leonid Bakka was an honored cultural figure of Ukraine. His death is an irrecoverable loss for all — colleagues, friends, and, of course, family. Den/The Day expresses its sincere condolences to his wife
Olha, his children — his daughter Viktoria and son Oleksandr, and his granddaughter Nadia. We mourn together with you and will always remember.
People can pay their last respects to Leonid Bakka on January 18 at 2 p.m. in the Ritual Hall of the Kyiv crematorium.
