The National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments conducted by Viktor Hutsal and one of the most famous contemporary Ukrainian singers in the world Viktoria Lukianets (soprano) will perform withing the framework of the series “Ukrainian Music Nights. Heritage and the Present Time.”

“Today not often our fellow citizens, primos and premiers of opera, who perform in the most prestigious theaters abroad, make a whole program only (!) of works by Ukrainian composers,” said Viktor HUTSAL. “The idea for the Music Night on October 30 appeared in August, when our orchestra and Viktoria Lukianets took part in the gala concert at the Odesa Opera House dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. Together with Lukianets we discussed what compositions we would like to include. We will perform romances and folk songs by classics and contemporary composers: Stanislav Liudkevych, Anatolii Kos-Anatolsky, Oleksandr Bilash, Ihor Shamo, Levko Kolodub, and Yakiv Hubanov (nine songs will be performed by Lukianets and we prepared diverse instrumental program). Lukianets has big repertoire: opera and chamber music, but in each of her solo concerts she always sings an encore a series of Ukrainian songs and does it great. I am very pleased that Lukianets does not forget about her motherland and finds time to perform in front of Ukrainian audience. Today she is a star but one has to search hard for another such creative and voiced singer. It is very pleasing that our team became the first orchestra Lukianets performed with. It happened back in time of her student years. It is always nice to work with her. She is not arrogant, she sings with her heart, and when you listen to her voice it seems that this is crystal quavering.”
