I have visited your web site, the English digest of your daily newspaper The Day. I have studied in Kyiv from 1964 to 1969. I am 55 years old. I live on Isle of Youth (also known as Isle of Pines), Cuba. I am a writer and a researcher in a wide profile: social, economics, marketing, management, prospective. I write also for the local radio and newspaper, in cultural sections. I would be very pleased to know about my dear city (Kyiv), where I had the best moments of my youth. Perhaps, for economic reasons, I will never see again my beautiful city (Kyiv), but maybe I will know about it through the links I can make with you and other kinds persons. I have some short stories about Kyiv. I am interested in making contacts with writers associations.

I am trying to find out information about my late grandfathers, family. I am not familiar with Kyiv so do not know who can help me. My grandfathers family were from Zhytomyr, his name was Volodymyr Pidkawora. His parents names were Mykhailo and Maria. He was taken by the Germans during World War II as a prisoner. We know he came to England in a POW camp and then when released got married and changed his name to Walter Goodman.
He died here in 1993 and wasn’t allowed to contact his family during the war. Then in 1990 he was very ill and became worse. I need to know what happened to his family. I know things weren’t very pleasant so I don’t expect them to still be alive. But if they were buried I would like to know where. I do hope you can help me in any way.

Looking for family Maksymov or Veretchenko. Most of family members were killed by Bolsheviks in 1920. They lived in Kremenchuk, and owned a refinery, also Wesolowski family from Kamenska. Can you help me with any suggestion how to find it?
