One and a half tons of locks were removed from “The Bridge of the Beloved” in Cherkasy.
Loving couples hung them there for many years — a bond between lovers. Specially for The Day, the CEO of a municipal service company Directorship of Parks Oleksandr Rudytsky revealed the story behind the reconstruction and repair works.
According to him, it was the first renovation for the past 45 years. The cost of the works amounted to 265,000 hryvnias (close to USD 34,000).
A creative illumination in the form of seagulls was also set up. After the reconstruction it is believed that couples in love would not hang on locks again.
For such purposes, the regional administration aims to put a special iron tree of love.
