Poland’s largest international military exercise Anaconda 2016 started on June 6, marking the sixth event of its kind. This year’s exercise will involve soldiers from 24 allied countries and partners. The practical part of the exercise will begin on June 7 and last for 10 days, ending on June 17. “The exercise aims to prepare national and coalition commands and units for joint actions within the framework of a combined defense operation conducted under conditions of hybrid warfare,” the statement on the exercise’s official website reads. The event will be held in seven main locations under the control of an international staff. The exercise will feature ground troops as well as air force and naval units and special forces. It will involve 31,000 soldiers, with 12,000 of them coming from the Polish military, and 3,000 pieces of military equipment, including 105 fixed-wing aircraft of various types and 12 ships.
