During his first visit to Ukraine as head of government, held on February 15, Ahmet Davutoglu declared non-recognition of occupation of Crimea and pledged support for Ukraine as it faces the challenges that have emerged after the collapse of the USSR.

“Ukraine is not just a neighboring country, but rather a nation we maintain strategic relations with. We treat the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine as a fundamental value. We arrived in Ukraine in numbers, and our delegation includes not only ministers and politicians, but also businesspeople. We would like to thank you for your solidarity with us in many areas. We are ready to bring our relations to a higher level, including by signing a free trade agreement with Ukraine,” the Turkish prime minister was quoted as saying by the media.
