The Missouri state authorities have moved more troops to Ferguson to forestall fresh unrest. According to Governor Jay Nixon, from Tuesday onwards order in the region will be enforced by 2,200 US National Guard servicemen. What sparked a wave of protests on Monday was the jury verdict to acquit the policeman who shot and killed Michael Brown, an 18-year-old black teenager, last August. Shortly before, dozens of buildings were torched in Ferguson, 29 people were detained, and one policeman received a gunshot wound.
On Tuesday, protests also continued in New York, Washington, and some other US cities. The acquitted policeman Darren Wilson’s layers have said that the jury verdict was right and emphasized that policemen often have just a moment in a difficult situation to make a difficult decision. Wilson himself granted an exclusive interview to the US ABC channel, in which he said that his conscience was clear. On the contrary, the Michael Brown family’s lawyer said it was a case of unfair judgment.
