Mustafa Dzhemiliov, chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People is number 12 on the list of the United Opposition “Fatherland” election list. This decision was made at the Congress of the “Fatherland” Party, which took place on July 30 in Kyiv. The Opposition List is topped by Yulia Tymoshenko. Arsenii Yatseniuk comes on the second position, the third is taken by Anatolii Hrytsenko, the forth – by Oleksandr Turchynov, and the fifth – by Yurii Lutsenko. The list also includes Viacheslav Kyrylenko, Hryhorii Nemyria, Serhii Sobolev, Borys Tarasiuk, Mykola Tomenko, Mykola Kniazhytsky, Mustafa Dzhemiliov, Andrii Kozhemiakin, Lilia Hrynevych, and Ivan Kyrylenko in this order.

It has been reported before that the United Opposition “Fatherland” and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people have signed a joint statement on the completion of the negotiations regarding the participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections and cooperation in Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation through the candidates delegated to the election list by the Mejlis. On July 21 Kurlutai of the Crimean Tatar people of the fifth convocation passed a decision, which instructed the Mejlis to continue negotiations and consultations with the national-democratic forces of Ukraine regarding the upcoming elections of the People’s Deputies of Ukraine.

Shevket KAIBULLA, editor of Avdet:

“We expected this to happen. It corresponds to the decision made by the Kurlutai of the Crimean Tatar people. We want to see our leader in the highest legislative body in the country not because he wants to be famous, but because we want him to solve our problems at the highest state level, to be able to raise important issues of restoration our rights, and to be able to inform the authorities of the country about our position. We could not imagine that out candidate might become a part of a political force that would not meet the requirements of democracy. Therefore, presence of our candidates in the political forces that have manifested themselves as democratic – is a strategic position of the Kurlutai, Mejlis, and all the Crimean Tatar people. We see Ukraine as a free, economically developed, independent country with European legislation and standards of living according to the European Law. Only this will give us the opportunity to live in peace and harmony in our country with all the other peoples, interact with them, help and support one another.”
