At the moment, the beta version is tested. However, The Day’s readers can already use numerous advantages of the updated version. It should be mentioned that the mass media audience strives to participate in the creation of a media product. A dynamic and effective feedback from the readers has always been one of The Day’s highest priorities. We have been working hard to open new possibilities for you, our readers.
“The Day’s website has been developed according to the best examples of the world online mass media. We wanted to find the best combination of news and newspaper content, and preserve uniqueness of both of them at the same time,” says the site’s web editor Artem ZHUKOV. “There are very few periodicals in Ukraine that work according to this principle. And The Day also creates a lot of its own products. At the same time, we cannot disregard modern challenges: they require dynamic, interesting daily content, new forms of material presentation; and the new site gives us an opportunity to take on this challenge. Successful visualization of the content and interactive elements – these are the key words that define The Day’s new website.
The developers have made the website navigation simpler, now it will be easier for the readers to find the necessary articles. We paid special attention to videos, photos, the way of news presentation. We are sure that the readers will notice the advantages right away.
Let us remind that we announced the launch of the new version at the opening of the photo exhibit Den-2012. Back then, we also launched an online promotion on Facebook. We hoped to get one thousand likes for a screenshot of the new website. However, there were so many reposts and likes on The Day’s friends pages, that the goal to collect one thousand became irrelevant. We felt your tremendous support, and we are sincerely thankful for it.
Anyway, we will keep our promise to award the 500th and 1,000th “likers,” although the thousandth is quite conventional, since there were a few times more of them. So, Facebook users Alex AJ Oliynichenko and Aleksandr Pryimak are awarded with the series of books “Armor-Piercing Political Writing.”
“You have lots of interesting stuff! I love ‘Ukraine Incognita’ and ‘Photo Seasons.’ And I expect that the new website will constantly keep up with the present and remember the historical past of our country! However, it looks like you haven’t had problems with that before,” said Alex AJ Oliynichenko in his commentary to The Day. Aleksandr Pryimak noted the deep political analysis of the situation in Ukraine and its history, always present in the paper’s articles. Of course, we want to maintain this level in the online version of the paper as well, since the content of printed paper and website will not be identical anymore.
We also decided to award Ruslana Velychko, because she was probably the most active supporter of our initiative. “I wish The Day to preserve to the same intellectual standards and make future columns ‘Economy,’ ‘Ukraine Incognita,’ ‘Politics’ as interesting to read. And I also wish special inspiration to The Day’s photographers, so they could keep up the same high level in their work,” Velychko said.
Thank you for your support!
