Paris Club Debt Rescheduled

17 July, 2001 - 00:00

On July 13 in Paris a Ukrainian delegation led by Ukrainian Minister of Finance Ihor Mitiukov signed an agreement with the Paris Club of Creditors on a twelve year restructuring of the $580 million Ukrainian debt to it, with a grace period of three years, Prime Minister Anatoly Kinakh told a Kyiv press conference that same day. The signing of this document is a precondition for Ukraine to reschedule its $270 million debt to Turkmenistan. Mr. Kinakh pointed out that in the course of negotiations the Paris Club accepted practically all Ukraine’s proposals. “Ukraine has every chance to fulfill by fall all conditions for the resumption of the International Monetary Fund EFF program, so that in September the Fund’s Executive Board could make a positive decision on the Ukrainian question,” Interfax-Ukraine quotes Mr. Kinakh as saying.
