They did register their union. Yesterday Oleksandr Turchynov, Fatherland’s deputy head, read to a press conference the Declaration of Unity, signed by Tymoshenko and Yatseniuk.
Especially enthusiastic oppositionists hastily called it a historic moment.
Come to think of it, May 12, The Day when the united opposition convenes, is most likely to become historic.
Yesterday’s event should rather be called a new step in the right direction.
Clearly, the situation when we have one power and many opposition forces is initially disadvantageous.
To counter a powerful pro-governmental fist we need an opposition fist which would be equally strong.
As expected, the union will be headed by Tymoshenko and Yatseniuk, whereas Turchynov is going to be in charge of the headquarters.
At the moment the “big opposition” includes Fatherland, Front of Change, People’s Movement of Ukraine, People’s Self-Defense, For Ukraine, and Reforms and Order Party.
