President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation recently worked as combine harvester operators at an agricultural enterprise known as Rodina in Stavropol Krai. Both looked sa-tisfied having harvested six tons of corn. During a meeting with local agrarian authorities, both agreed that Russia’s grains exports should be limited, in order to provide for carry-over stocks of grain. In fact, the purpose of their trip to Stavropol Krai was to meet with the activists of United Russia’s branch, in view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Another objective was to demonstrate an invincible political tandem, next year’s castling notwithstanding. This has been Medvedev and Putin’s second joint campaign stunt in the past five days, with the President topping United Russia’s roster and the Prime Minister leading the ruling political party. At the end of last week, both held an audio conference with United Russia’s regional headquarters, including the one in Stavropol Krai.
