The Day met the announcement on awarding our colleague Klara Pylypivna Gudzyk the title of Meritorious Journalist of Ukraine with sincere joy. It is, of course, not just the high award that matters but the tremendous moral authority that Klara Pylypivna enjoys among journalists, readers, and, of course, her colleagues.
Various categories of readers follow her articles, which, in spite of the priority of church subjects, are devoted to a broad range of issues from environment pollution to complicated Biblical analogies with our contemporary life. Perhaps, in both cases the tie that binds is the notion of purity. After all, the cleanness of the parks immediately depends on the people’s own cleanliness.
No matter what Klara Pylypivna’s opinion might be, it is always the opinion of an utterly enthusiastic person who at the same time tries to be as objective as possible. Behind the agitated tone of her articles one can feel a true Christian discretion. Without tempering her acute view on many things, Ms. Gudzyk has never been hypocritical or pedantic. Through her brilliant texts one can always see the ironic smile inherent to true wizards.
Whatever elevated words and compliments are paid her, they are always true. This is known in Ukraine as well as the Vatican and many other countries where her readers and admirers live.
It should also be mentioned that the name of Klara Gudzyk for everyone lucky enough to know her personally is a synonym for youth and optimism. We are proud that a person able to give so much light to everybody around her works at our paper whose name (and, of course, the content), in our view, corresponds to her magnificent gift.
We congratulate Klara Pylypivna on her high award and together with our readers await her new, always original and vivid columns, which have already become a genre of its own in Ukrainian journalism.
