In Rivne, children from large and destitute families will be taught to swim by Anna Khlistunova, European champion in this sport. This was made possible within the framework of the international educational project “Save life,” which is being implemented by local activists.

“In August-September, various events will be held in Rivne oblast, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people. This idea will be advanced by well-known athletes (in particular, soccer player Vladyslav Vashchuk and swimmer Anna Khlistunova) and singers (Yurii Zhuravel, frontman of OT VINTA, and Boombox),” explains Oleksandr Polishchuk, one of the organizers of the pro-ject.

“We have also been supported by ethnic communities. They are expected to take part in setting a world record for the largest number of representatives of various nationalities and ethnic groups to gather in one place at one time to support HIV/AIDS prevention. As of today, a submission has been made to register the record in Ukraine’s Book of Records.

“Meanwhile, an event called ‘Safety on Water’ was launched to give free swimming lessons for children from large and destitute families. Anna Khlistunova is one of the trainers in this project. By the way, we are currently negotiating with the Denys Sylantiev and Yana Klochkova Youth Swimming Foundation to open a swimming school for children in Rivne. However, this remains but a future possibility.”

The project “Save Life” will also include thematic events about road safety, teenage alcoholism, and drug addiction. At present the organizers are completing a socially oriented video to popularize their work.
