This will be the topic of the Sixth Kyiv Security Forum that starts on April 18 in Kyiv. This year the forum will be attended by more than 400 participants: government officials, politicians, experts, businessmen, and journalists. For two days – April 18-19 guests of the forum will discuss the following topics: role of the EU in building security, security in the energy sector, cyber security, intensification of the struggle for resources, and freedom of speech. The main goals of this year’s KSF are strengthening security cooperation between the EU and Black Sea region, as well as raising awareness about the development of security among the key countries. The speakers at this forum will be Giorgi Baramidze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia (2004-12); Anna Fotyga, Member of Polish Parliament (Sejm), Foreign Minister of Poland (2006-07); Graham Tiley, Shell Ukraine Country Chair; Steven Pifer, US Ambassador to Ukraine (1998-2000); Petr Mares, Special Envoy for the Eastern Partnership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic; Anabel Hernandez, a Mexican journalist and writer, winner of the 2012 Golden Pen of Freedom prize from the World Association of Newspapers & News Publishers (WAN-IFRA); James Sherr, Senior Fellow, Russia and Eurasia Program at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House (UK), and others. During the time of the forum existence, the organizers – Arsenii Yatseniuk Open Ukraine Foundation, managed to turn it into a platform for debate on the most pressing security issues of European and world security.
