Trukhaniv Island, on the Dnipro in Kyiv, will host the fourth international music festival Rock Sich on October 2 and 3.
It will involve some 40 performers and rock bands, including Oleh Skrypka, musician, leader of the group VV, and founder and invariable organizer of the event.
Rock Sich is the Ukrainian capital’s first and only festival of Ukrainian rock music with different three stages. It was founded in 2006 and immediately became Ukraine’s number one rock event.
This time Trukhaniv Island will boast four stages. The fourth one is meant for ethno rock, and the festival will be dedicated to protecting the environment.
As always, Rock Sich stages will feature veterans and young talents, among them VV, Tanok Na Maidani Kongo, Tartak, Plach Yeremii, Komu Vnyz, Maria Burmaka, Mandry, Mad Heads XL, to mention but a few.
Says Oleh Skrypka: “Our festival allows young Ukrainian musicians to perform before a large audience and assert themselves on the music path they’ve chosen. We know that rock music has always been in the vanguard of culture because it has always had its special audiences. The main civic objective of Rock Sich is to build new stereotypes in the festival movement in Ukraine. However, in terms of organization, technological support, and creative approach, we need an essentially new kind of budget, so we’ve decided on charging for entry this year.”
