October 21, 2017. College Station. Five former US presidents – Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton – took part in a charity concert held to raise relief funds for victims of the hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, which recently struck the US. The ex-presidents launched the One America initiative back on September 7 and have raised 31 million dollars since then. “All of us on this stage here tonight could not be prouder of the response of Americans,” Obama said, and stressed that when Americans see their neighbors, friends, or strangers in need, they step up. “It is important that those affected by these devastating storms know that even if the path to recovery feels like a road that goes on forever, we are with them for the long haul,” George H.W. Bush stressed. Voice of America writes that the presidents stood side-by-side on the stage, demonstrating unity and solidarity in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
