Kyiv is hosting a charitable event, “Help St. Nicholas —Make the Child’s Dream Come True,” Ukrainska Pravda reports. The event, being held on December 5-31, is supposed to create a veritable feast for every child and sow the seeds of love for the your neighbor and respect for Ukrainian traditions.
As part of the event, there are 15 places in downtown Kyiv, to which one can bring gifts. Whoever wishes to help orphaned children, children from large and low-income families, and children who are in hospitals can join the charitable event. To do so, one should bring over a gift for a child (toys, warm clothes, books, etc.) and put it in one of the baskets placed in the administrative establishments and shopping and business centers of Shevchenkivsky raion. The gifts will find their owners on New Year’s Eve. In addition, there will be a small house of St. Nicholas in the Taras Shevchenko Park on December 19-31, in which Nicholas and his “assistants” will be putting on theatrical shows for children. After the show, every child will receive a holiday gift from St. Nicholas. Admission and excursions are free.
