The enrollment applications were accepted from September 15 to October 6. Kherson did not break the record number of those wishing to serve in the police, but the competition is fierce nevertheless. On the last day more than 3,200 applications were registered. Overall, 300 officers are planned for the city, hence there will be more than ten applicants per place. The application forms were available upon personal request and on the MIA website. The applicants are currently awaiting a response from the Ministry, on which the time and venue of the first tests will be specified.
“The admission process went smoothly and orderly. The candidates for the new police will then be subject to four levels of selection. The first test is on general intelligence, then the military medical commission, then the tests of physical fitness and, lastly, the psychological testing,” said Oleksii Aleksieiev, chief staff specialist of Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kherson region. “This week we will have a meeting on tests and their timing. Going through all of the stages will take about six weeks. After that, the study process will begin immediately, which will last for two months. The new police is due to appear on the streets of Kherson in late January, early February at most.”
Kherson continues the selection process for the instructors to teach the recruits until October 17. Experts in the following areas of knowledge are invited: administrative offences and proceedings on administrative offenses, crimes qualification and principles of criminal proceedings, road traffic regulations, preventing and punishing corruption, information technology, professional ethics, human rights, effective communication, first aid, etc. More information on the instructor application form can be found at the Interior Ministry website.
