October 17, 2017. Alphabet, Inc., including Google, will help build Quayside, a high-tech community on Toronto’s outskirts. Bloomberg writes that it will emerge “from scratch along Lake Ontario in Canada’s biggest city. The area aims to become an innovation hub for technologies that improve city life, from green energy systems, to self-driving transit and new construction techniques that can lower housing costs…” A total of 50 million dollars is planned to be invested in the project. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared partnership with Google, adding that “The new technologies that emerge from Quayside have the potential to improve city living, making housing more affordable and public transit more convenient.”
