Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has announced that BYut will participate in the presidential elections. The news came at the open meeting of the government, which was called to address the problems of small and medium-sized businesses. Tymoshenko noted that the pre-election period is the best time to pass laws that will benefit small businesses.

“Thanks goodness, the elections are around the corner. As long as the elections were looming, there was no point in going to parliament, which was not passing any laws. However, in about two months everyone will come to you because half of the MPs will run for president. Our team is also going to participate,” said the premier, adding that, according to her forecast, the economy will bounce back within three to four months.

“Give us three to four months to secure a stable position, avoid further downfall, and maintain the hryvnia exchange rate. Then, step by step, the economy will enter the growth and stabilization phase. This will require efforts, while things are not altogether normal in parliament and the government,” Tymoshenko added.

Referring to the situation in the banking sector these days, she said that nearly 20 banks have stopped payments or are slightly delaying them. At the same time, the government has outlined, jointly with the National Bank, a strategy to support the banking system.

Finally, there is good news for the small and medium-sized businesses: the government is imposing a moratorium on the checks of entrepreneurs for the duration of the crisis. The Cabinet of Ministers will operate a hotline that will accept reports on violations of this ban on the part of the supervisory bodies.
