In 2016, the Ukrainian IT team dcua team took the first place in the CTFtime ranking of specialists able to determine the degree of a system’s security against attacks and to improve it, the press service of Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) reports. According to the ranking table published on the CTFtime website, the KPI-based Ukrainian IT students bested over 12,000 teams from around the world.
The CTFtime ranking is calculated based on the teams’ achievements in international information security competitions over the year. The 2016 ranking is based on the results of 70 competitions.
In the field of cybersecurity, Capture the Flag (CTF) is a kind of team information security competition focused on identifying vulnerabilities in the system, determining the degree of its overall vulnerability, and finding ways of eliminating weaknesses.
