On the last day of the world biathlon championship in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia), the Ukrainian women’s team, consisting of the sisters Valia and Vita Semerenko, Olena Pidhrushna and Oksana Khvostenko placed second in the 4 6.5 km relay race. The Ukrainian athletes had the lead in the first three stages. In the final section Khvostenko shot brilliantly, but, unfortunately for our experienced biathlete, her competitor was the indomitable German Magdalena Neuner, reports Ukrinform, referring to the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine. This is the third award of Ukrainian athletes at the world championship. Previously the men’s team (Oleksandr Bilanenko, Andrii Deryzemlia, Serhii Semenov and Serhii Sedniev) got bronze medals in the 4 7.5 km relay. Vita Semerenko also won a bronze medal in the individual 15 km race.
