Jan. 23 1930: The CC CP(B)U adopts a resolution instructing all party organizations to launch dekulakization in districts slated for all-out collectivization.

1992: Kyiv is the site of an exchange of notes between Ukraine and the US about establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Jan. 24 1944: The 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts launch the Korsun- Shevchenkivsky offensive against the German Werhmacht.

1996: A memorandum of cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Sejm of Lithuania is signed in Vilnius.

Jan. 25 1919: The Provisional Workers and Peasants’ Government of Ukraine adopts a declaration on the necessity to unite the Ukrainian SSR and the RSFSR on the principles of socialist federation.

1931: The All-Ukrainian Decade for the Liquidation of Illiteracy begins.

Jan. 26 1993: Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice registers the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists.

1992: The Verkhovna Rada adopts the national blue-and-yellow flag as Ukraine’s state flag.

Jan. 29 1900: The Revolutionary Ukrainian Party, the first political party to emerge in the central, southern, and eastern lands of Ukraine, is founded in Kharkiv.

1992: Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice registers the All-Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko Prosvita Society.
