Oct. 18 1955: The Kakhivka hydroelectric power station goes into operation on the Dnipro River.

Oct. 19 1653: Envoys of the Moscow tsar, led by V. Buturlin, leave for Pereiaslav to take the oath of allegiance from the Zaporozhian Host.
