1996: Ukrainian MPs swear allegiance to the people of Ukraine in accordance with the new constitution.

July 13 1935: The Politburo of the CC CP(B)U resolves to dissolve the Ukrainian branch of the Society of Old Bolsheviks.

1945: The Council of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR and the CC CP(B)U pass a decision to establish the Academy of Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR.

July 14 1948: Politvydav Publishers in Kyiv release the first volume of Lenin’s Works (4th ed.) in Ukrainian.

July 15 1920: The Kyiv Higher Institute of People’s Education is founded (today: Drahomanov National Pedagogical University).

1989: Coal miners’ strikes begin in the Donbas and western Ukraine.
