23 May 1917. The Central Rada approved the First Universal proclaiming Ukraine’s sovereignty and autonomy.

1990. Negotiations began between the Ukrainian State and Russia.

24 May 1991. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the Green Party of Ukraine.

2002. During Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma’s official visit to Estonia a Declaration on Intensifying Cooperation and Partnership between the two countries was signed.

25 May 1994. Feodosiya Museum of Antiquities, now Feodosiya Local History Museum, was founded.

1999. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registered the Human Rights Party.

26 May 1648. The Bohdan Khmelnytsky’s Cossack Army defeated Polish troops near Korsun.

1920. The Ivan Mazepa government resigned in Vinnytsia and Supreme Otaman of the Direktoriya Semen Petliura appointed a new UNR government headed by Vyacheslav Prokopovych.

27 May 1657. The Holy Roman Empire contracted an alliance with Rzeczpospolita, promising to render military assistance to Poland and mediate in its negotiations with Bohdan Khmelnytsky.

1821. The Mykolayiv Astronomy Observatory was founded.

28 May 1982. Kyiv celebrated its 1500th anniversary.

1997. The heads of the governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation signed a number of documents on the division and deployment of the Black Sea Navy.

29 May 1917. Russian Minister of War Aleksandr Kerensky forbade holding the Second All-Ukrainian Military Congress.

2002. Presidents Kuchma of Ukraine and Lukashenka of Belarus discussed the issues regarding the state border and economical cooperation between the two countries.
