Feb. 25 1918: The Small Rada of the Ukrainian National Republic (UNR) passes bills instituting the new Gregorian calendar and Central European Time in Ukraine. The trident is adopted as the UNR’s national emblem.
1992: President Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine signs an edict establishing the State Duma (Council) of Ukraine.
Feb. 26 1878: The trial of a group of noted Galician public figures, among them Ivan Franko, Mykhailo Pavlyk, and Ostap Terletsky, begins in Lviv.
1993: Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice registers the Rukh Popular Movement.
