March 20: 1895. The Hromadsky holos [Community Voice] newspaper began publication in Lviv.

1995. The governments of Ukraine and the United Arabian Emirates signed a treaty on economic, trade, and technical cooperation, the first treaty of such kind between Ukraine and a Persian Gulf state.

March 21: 1978. A Communist Party of Ukraine Central Committee plenum ratified a decision on the Constitution and the State Anthem of Ukraine.

1982. Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation on celebrating the Day of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, the first presidential act in the USA dealing exclusively with Ukraine.

March 22: 1919. Soviet power was proclaimed in Transcarpathian Ukraine.

1994. The Banknote Printing Office of the National Bank of Ukraine was founded in Kyiv.

March 23: 1944. The Central Republic Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences was created in Kyiv.

1994. A treaty on partnership and cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union was signed in Brussels.

March 24: 1918. The law of the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UNR) proclaiming Ukrainian the official language was published.

1935. A monument to Taras Shevchenko by sculptor Matvei Manizer was unveiled in Kharkiv.

March 25: 1651. Colonel Ivan Bohun’s army routed a Polish army near Vinnytsia.

1993. The Interpol National Central Bureau was created in Ukraine.

March 26: 1989. The first election of USSR people’s deputies that gave people a choice of candidates was held.

1996. Ukraine joined the General Assembly of the European Quality Association in Vienna.
