April 15 1919: The Central Executive Committee of the Soviets of Ukraine adopts a decree establishing the Supreme Revolutionary Tribunal.

1994: Ukraine accedes to the Treaty on the Economic Union of the CIS Countries as an associate member.

April 16 1710: Pylyp Orlyk is elected hetman of Ukraine. The Pacts and the Constitution of Rights and Freedoms of the Zaporozhian Host (one of Europe’s first constitutions) are adopted.

1995: Ukraine is the first former Soviet country to receive the direct international telephone code “380.”

April 17 1924: The All-Ukrainian Central Executive Committee (VUTsVK) adopts a resolution on combating child homelessness.

1991: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passes a bill on the rehabilitation of victims of political repressions in Ukraine.
