Yushchenko’s Team Wins Best Election Campaign Award

The American Association of Political Consultants has presented Viktor Yushchenko’s election campaign team with a special award, “International Campaign Team of the Year,” Radio Liberty reports. AAPC President Wayne Johnson noted that Viktor Yushchenko is the first foreign politician whose election campaign received the association’s highest award. The successful protest rallies in Ukraine convinced the association’s members to grant the highest award to Viktor Yushchenko’s campaign. Johnson pointed out that political technologies played only a secondary role in the events in Ukraine, since no political technology can bring hundreds of thousands of citizens into the streets. Owing to the Orange Revolution, Americans have begun to have an appreciation for Ukrainians. “We felt real spiritual affinity with the Ukrainian people. This is a natural response on the part of Americans when they see how people are struggling for their freedom,” he said.
