The set of instruments our politicians in general and members of parliament in particular use to make their position known is limited: bombastic denunciation (about opponents), boundless love (about the people), and pompous decisiveness (about reforms)… Sometimes things boil down to a fistfight in front of TV and photo cameras or, off camera, to bribery and blackmail. Humor and, moreover, self-irony occurs extremely seldom in this set. Maybe, not all possess a special gift to use them or, maybe, they just forget the warning of a popular film character: “A serious face is not always the sign of intellect. Smile, Gentlemen!” This is bound to produce a result. In any case, the appearance of Vadym Rabinovych with rather an eccentric T-shirt on in the Verkhovna Rada did not remain unnoticed. Here are some details. At The Day’s request, the MP’s aide Volodymyr Katzman quoted Rabinovych as saying: “I wear the T-shirt because the Opposition Bloc and I are in the course of a peaceful divorce. And, you know, when people divorce, they sometimes write to each other for a long time. I never quarrel with Opposition Bloc guys. We’ve just drifted apart after voting for Yatseniuk staying on in office. I have a different vision of this country’s development. You can’t possibly live by the past alone. My party Center was once among those who formed this bloc. They are on my list, not the other way round. So I wish to divorce peacefully. I’ll be sailing through politics in my own boat.” That’s that…
