The ranking of budget travel destinations for this fall was compiled by Airbnb, a popular service for short-term rental, and published by the British newspaper The Telegraph. The list includes cities that have at least 200 offers posted on the web resource, and among other things, draws people’s attention to Eastern European nations, still not very well known among tourists. It is headed by Tbilisi where one is able to find accommodation for 30 dollars a day. The second and third places are held by the Serbian capital Belgrade and Turkish Istanbul, where one can find lodging for a night for 33 dollars.

As noted by The Telegraph, Poland is well represented in the ranking, with its Top 25 including three cities of that country: Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw. Kyiv, according to Airbnb, offers accommodation for 35 dollars a day, exactly the same price as in St. Petersburg, which is ranked seventh. The list includes cities from more popular tourist destinations as well. For instance, French Nantes is 25th, and one can find accommodation there for 47 dollars, while Athens, Budapest, Leipzig, and Las Palmas (the capital of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands) have also made it to the list.

Airbnb is a network helping people to rent a house, an apartment, a room or just a bed in over 190 countries. Its list offers no information on availability of these cities for foreigners, infrastructure, attractions, or dining options. The only indicator that the ranking’s compilers took into account was the price of accommodation. But given the popularity of Airbnb, it may well serve as a good promotion for Kyiv. Whether the city will take any advantage of it depends on the hospitality of the capital’s residents.
