Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty

Over its 12-year-long history, the school was attended by over 500 students, enough to staff a complete national media team! Some of the Summer School of Journalism (SSJ) graduates have already made a name for themselves, launching a number of interesting initiatives including the Journalism Students’ Debating Society at Franko Lviv National University and Ostroh Intellectual Communication Club. Meanwhile, the best alumni of the school have joined our editorial team.

This year, we offer a traditionally rich program to the school’s participants, which will see them:

• working for a daily newspaper and performing editorial assignments;

• meeting prominent figures of Ukrainian politics, culture, and media industry;

• taking part in workshops held by Den’s best journalists;

• going on an intellectual trip across Ukraine which will bring our students to a historically and culturally important location.

Past year, the school had a hundred registration forms and essays emailed to it! They were sent by participants who came from 19 cities of Ukraine, ranging from Pryluky and Lviv to Donetsk and Simferopol. We believe that the geographical range of our participants will only expand this year, and the competition’s tasks will become even more interesting!

The actions required to get an internship with Den’s editors under the SSJ program include:

•  filling in the registration form at Den’s website day.kiev.ua;

•  recording a video resume, lasting no more than one minute;

•  writing a review of Den’s Tree of Knowledge project, available at incognita. day. kiev. ua/ books/derevo/

Since the SSJ aims to develop intellectual and creative abilities of its participants, we ask you to make the first contribution to your “intellectual summer” through:

•  subscribing to the daily or Friday edition of Den for six months;

•  purchasing any book series from Den’s Library project (that is, a complete set of Extract, or series “Armor Piercing Political Writing” or “Subversive Literature”).

To be considered, your application must be accompanied by:

•  a scanned copy of the receipt of subscription for Den’s print version;

•  a receipt confirming your purchase of a book series.

Den’s SSJ will be held from July 1-31.

Prospective participants may submit their applications until June 17, inclusive.

The school’s curator is Inna Pavliuk, phone (044) 303-96-79.

For subscription and purchasing books, call (044) 303-96-23.

P.S.: Any changes in the school’s schedule will be promptly announced at Den’s website as well in the newspaper print version under the heading Den’s Press Club.

We are hoping to see you, and wishing you the best of luck!
