The first such event took place in London in 2009, but very soon, it became fantastically popular not only in Britain, but in many other countries as well. The festival has become a tradition in Ukraine, bringing together more and more supporters with every new event.
This year’s cycling parade met the fall in the picturesque Fomin Botanical Garden. Live music and dancing to rock and roll tunes in the spacious alleys of the fall garden helped recreate the true atmosphere of the 1930s to 1940s England.
“We have invested a lot of effort into making this event not just a cycling run, but a true festival of British culture,” the organizer of the “Retro Cruise 2014” Volodymyr Cheremys told us. “Why do we do it?! Because it is a global trend and similar festivals take place in many countries, from Finland to the US. Ukraine has to be part of the trend, has not it? I would like to see the Ukrainians to come together, at least on a few occasions every year, and rejoice in the congenial atmosphere, looking at friendly people around and themselves. After all, you see how fine all of us are looking here. We plan to hold such events on a regular basis every spring and fall.”
Our team was well prepared for the event as well: there could be no real tea without Den’s new intellectual publications.
