The Ukrainian Armed Forces command has at last made this decision after registration and draft boards were subjected to criticism in 2014-15. This follows from the announcement made by Major-General Volodymyr Talalai, acting chief of the Main Directorate for Personnel and Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces’ General Staff, on August 16 at a briefing in the Ministry of Defense press center. He noted that officers who have no combat experience but want to serve at registration and draft boards can only be appointed to these posts if they have seen service at combat brigades for at least six months. “Before being sent to the ATO zone, these officers, like all the other servicemen, must take a one-and-a-half-month-long course of training,” Talalai said. Besides, the acting chief of the Main Directorate for Personnel said that the next armed forces draft was planned for October-November this year.
