Aftertaste of The Day’s photo exhibit in Lviv

2 June, 2009 - 00:00

Dear Ms. Ivshyna,

On behalf of the student body of Lviv Polytechnic National University I would like to express our sincere gratitude to The Day and you as its editor in chief for the opportunity to attend The Day’s photo exhibit, which had been widely announced in the mass media and was held right in our university.

Because of the exhibit’s venue, the city’s largest university, it attracted, even in the short while that the photos were on display, several thousand people, including students, academics, artists and intellectuals from Lviv and Lviv oblast. The photos were praised, among others, by the participants of the First International Festival of Youth Science, student self-government delegates from Donetsk National Technical University, the University of Warsaw, Ternopil National Pedagogical University, etc., who happened to be at our university at the time.

We would like to note that as the visitors discussed the photos, they would also start debates on issues concerning Ukrainian politics or our history, or they would just stop to ponder the Ukrainian realities of today. We would like to use this opportunity and emphasize that the displayed photos were an excellent newsmaker that did not need any advertising as they drew crowds of visitors by the mere fact of their presence. The Day’s photo exhibit is an artistic event that will, no doubt, boost the artistic development of the Ukrainian student community. This is evidenced by the guestbook carrying most favorable opinions from the general public and, among other things, repeated wishes to see the next exhibit again at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.
