A cheerful and multicolored exposition, started in the building of Ukrsotsbank, (Mickiewicz square, 10), is taking place within the framework of the project “Danish Initiatives in Ukraine.” 40 art pieces by the artists Gate Aakjaer and Birte Sidelmann are presented.

As Gate Aakjaer told The Day, her art debut took place in 1999. “Since then I became a passionate artist and with the lapse of time I started teaching in the Academy of Art,” the artist says, “My early works were more naturalistic, and now they are more original and expressive. They were shown not only in the art galleries in Denmark but also abroad.” According to Birte Sidelmann, drawing always appealed to her. It turned into “lifestyle” only 10 years ago.

At the opening of the exposition, art critic Orest Holubets noted that the pictures of Aakjaer and Sidelmann are very modern and attract, first of all, by their open colors. The professor emphasized that “a real artist is the one, who remains a child at heart,” and cheerful colorful paintings of the Danish guests is a bright confirmation that Gate and Birte, despite their venerable age, are just like that.

The exposition at Mickiewicz, 10, will last until July 9. Entrance is free. Lviv citizens and the visitors will be able not only to see but to purchase the paintings too. Danish artists promise to donate 10 percent of their income to a Lviv orphanage.
