Art of optimism

Exhibition of paintings by artist from Zhytomyr Neonila Kosnytska launched in Ostroh Academy
1 December, 2011 - 00:00
NEONILA KOSNYTSKA’S DAY OF THE CITY / NEONILA KOSNYTSKA’S WAY TO OBEDIENCE

Modern vision, organization of the canvas plane, using stylistic constraints of the genre to move to another level of perception of individual color and unexpected color combinations – these are the characteristic features of Neonila Kosnytska’s style. Between the poles of traditional narrative and the original color structure well-balanced in her works, a life-giving energy flow is formed.

Kosnytska is a member of Artists Union of Ukraine and Russia. She was born on January 21, 1962 in the village of Bohdanivka, Khmelnytsky oblast. From 1979 through 1985 she studied at the Art Department of Vladivostok Institute of Arts, worked as a lecturer and head of Design Department at Magadan College of Arts. Today she is a teacher of professional designing disciplines at Zhytomyr Pedagogical University, Zhytomyr Technology College, and is actively engaged in exhibition activity. Her solo exhibitions are organized in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and the US.

As the art critic Lesia Sobolivska noted in the magazine Artists of Ukraine, bright canvases by Kosnytska involuntarily attract attention for their optimistic palette. The artist makes bold artistic experiments.

Painting, composition, and texture are the main characters of her work. Landscapes prevail in the art work of the painter. By the way, absence of human images in Kosnytska’s landscape composition is not a mere coincidence but a well thought-out artistic tool. A person is present but on the other side of the picture pane. This person is not only contemplating the image but also gets filled with the emotional state that has been so well conveyed by the artist. By the way, Kosnytska has a tradition of going out for a plein-air painting during the blooming of wild poppies that flare up with brightness of a summer day in her paintings.

Kosnytska is a regular member of artists’ plein-air sessions, which traditionally takes place annually at the Ostroh Academy National University. At the invitation of rector Ihor Pasichnyk and students Kosnytska brought over 30 of her paintings to the Ostroh Academy. Art exhibitions of Kosnytska’s works, which was launched in the underground galleries of the University, will last until early December.
