The project is called “Back to the Future. Rarities of the 2000s.” It introduces Ukrainian artists and paintings from the beginning of the 21st century, reports in-kyiv.com.ua.

“Time inevitably flows. The second half of 2000s offers a distance which allows to set apart some artwork from the Karas Gallery collection that became significant enough to be called rarities. I mean the artwork that outlines the art scene of the first decade of our century. We distinguished such works, the authors of which are now followed by curators, experts, critics, and art historians; the authors of which have entered the classics club. In this place one may find someone young, or someone with several decades worth of experience – and together they create a new future for Ukrainian art,” asserts Yevhen Karas.

YURII PIKUL. A SELF-PORTRAIT

“Back to the Future...” also presents a retrospective on the exhibitions that took place in the gallery over the past ten years; the paintings that had been on display offer today a new meaning and relevance. Visitors will be able to see the artwork by Marko Heiko, Vladyslav Shereshevsky Oleksandr Matviienko, Serhii Chaika, Anatolii Kryvolap, Vasyl Bazhai, Vlada Ralko, Oleksandr Druhanov, Lev Markosian, Vinni Reunov, Oleksandr Roitburd, Viktor Pokydanets, Mykola Kryvenko, et al.

The rarities are on display through August 14.
